Real World Austin

As per usual, MTV was able to pull together yet another cast of idiots that didn’t mesh. This of course made for yet another good Real World season, imho. I watch because I have some odd attraction to reality television. I am particularly attracted to the Real World mainly because it was there first (I think?). Season 1 in NYC was a long time ago and the show has since then transformed into “lets get people that don’t get along”.

I saw the “reunion” special last nite and I am confident that Neamiah (or however you spell it) is a complete moron. He says the most “insightful” things yet his actions are those of a 2yr old - odd.

So with Austin over and my beloved Breaking Bonaduce over (season 2??) what will I do for television’d entertainment? Well, the new Gauntlet is premiering on Monday. This is where they take old castmates from the Realworld and Road Rules and it turns into a backstabbing fest - I love it. Also, there is a new Real World coming to MTV in February ‘06. I think this one is in the Florida Keys during hurricane season. I wonder if Michael Brown is in the cast, haha.

Holographic Data Storage

This article is pretty cool. Apparently, Maxell’s said to produce their first ‘holographic’ data storage disks sometime in Sept. 06.

Not that we need a THIRD high-definition DVD storage option, but Maxell’s disk totally blows away Blu-Ray (Sony) and HDdvd (Toshiba+NEC).

Should be interesting -). With HDTV making its way into the homes of more and more TV watchers, the need for one format will be more apparent as both Hollywood and the Consumer itself will not want to potentially buy two of everything -). One problem I see is that Microsoft is backing HDDVD while Sony is backing its Blu-Ray. Since the two aren’t the best of friends on the console gaming market, you can bet that neither will cave and support the other format for the sake of the consumer -).

5 hours of sleep - Let the training begin!

Overall, I respect my body - I eat when it tells me, and all that other “necessary” stuff. I’m going to try and get about 5 or so hours of sleep a night as opposed to the traditional 7. Why? I really have no idea. Call it…somethin to do. Currently on about 6hrs and feeling rather out of it. The sand man really went to town on my eyes. I’ve been scraping crap out of them for the past 20min…

I See Dead Turkeys

And so another Thanksgiving cometh and goeth. Overall, it was fun, and the four days off were much needed. The Monday after the four days off is another story, however. I’ll just do a day-by-day for all of my (2…3…?) eager readers…

Wednesday Evening

This is typically reserved for getting wasted and driving home impaired. Not for me - headed to Neeti’s and Dan’s for Dan’s 26th BDay. Fun was had by all. I started to crash around 8ish (I’m such an oldman -(). So we took off and proceeded to passout.

Thursday - Black Friday Eve

So the big day of football, turkey and napping rolled around finally. Got back to my 1bdrm closet and had a good 3hrs of doing nothing before venturing to Fairport/Pittsford/whateverthehellitis for T-Day at my Aunts. Got to see the my small family. My youngest cousin was up from NYC which rocked. Like every year, we all got full on crackers and cheese then proceeded to overeat at the main event. I took a few pics which I’ll probably put up (hopefully) soon. Neeti just uploaded about a billion pics to her gallery so I think it is time I upload a ton myself -).

I hung out @ my aunts till 7ish then headed to Candace’s folks house for more relaxing…overall, nothing terribly exciting (which was very nice).

Black Friday…

I really wanted to get up at 5am and go where all the crazies go…alas, I slept till about 9am..and loved it. We did decide to do a bit of shopping around Webster - land of the idiots. I’ve been meaning to put together a “why this suburb annoys me” category…Basically, I heart downtown. I didn’t really buy much. Finally got a digi-thermostat. Got it installed and programmed - no more dial turnin! FTW!!!!one. We headed to Jim’s stunning city house. He and his wife bought a mansion (basically..it’s huge). They did alot in the 4months or so and it was all well done. Again…to reiterate..I want that couch -D.

Saturday

It had finally come…”Nutcracker Day”. I told Candace I’d go and she even bought my ticket :aww: ;-). We met up with George, Leianna (sp?), Dan and Neeti for a night at the Eastman Theatre (which is very impressive). I was told by my cousin on Thursday that “that is so gay” when I told her I was going and that “I am whipped” lol. It actually wasn’t that bad - a sign that I am actually cultured *shiver*. We hit up the Old Toad for drinks - apparently everyone and their mothers were doing the same - very crowded bar…with a hint of body-odor - YUM! I couldn’t complain - Heinekin was $2.75..a tasty beer.

Sunday

The day of rest..and that is what we did…Bills blew it, Breaking Bonaduce concluded (cry) and Intervention (A&E) will cause instant depression (powerful show)

Here’s to another Thanksgiving, and I still miss you Ricky…

My best friend for 20+yrs leaves for Iraq on Thursday and I am NOT happy about it…Give em hell Phil!

Chuck and the Chocolate Sweat Shop

So, I finished watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Saturday night. Thank goodness for that bottle of wine - it was cool, but I do like the original more. Wonka had more of a “hey I got a creepy blue Chevy van with some candy in it…wanna see it, kids?!?” The Lumpa folks were cool, but they weren’t as creep-tastic as the old 1970s ones. Nothin says freaky like green hair and orange faces -).

Throughout the movie I sorta wished I was watching the first one. I’ve been told this remake (part of hollywoods “summer o remakes” - boh-ring) was more true to the book, which I fully respect as I’ve been witness to many a “book to movie” translations gone wrong. Anyway, the sets were very well done, and the plot was just like the original except they did not have that ridiculously annoying belching scene like the first one did - holy pointlessness batman! I’m not a full blown movie critic like the “oh so credible” Jack Garner at the D&C, but I felt like posting something about this flick.

I wondered why Chuck’s family seemed to have the CRAPPIEST HOUSE EVER. I mean, come on. It seeemd to be the only house in the slums where they lived…I dunno, I was left wondering why they didn’t just take out a loan and hire a contractor ;-) - Wonka’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

Anywho, it was good, glad I saw it. I will forever love the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp combo - they work so well together. I will forever wish that Burton did all the Batman flicks -D.

I also saw the new ‘potter movie…I’ll comment and that soon…
