Best way to slow down production…

I need a way to make it so whenever I want to perform a CPU-intensive task, said task takes too long to execute causing me stress and overall increasing my chance of heart attack or random homicide…

Wait…I’ve GOT IT!

It’s called a Dell Latitude D800 - Woo!

I wanted a laptop right up until I got one for work. I hate this thing. It’s kinda like a child that craps itself - you need to change it (restart) frequently, and sometimes it has violent diarhea (virtual ram) which causes all sorts of fun!

Laptops, for the lose - slow HDD RPM (4200, as opposed to a 10000rpm scsi or 7200rpm SATA). Granted, the screen resolution on the EWRUFWEIUXGA or whatever the fuhk the lcd is called (SVGXGA? VGA? pssh). I love the lack of ram - can i have LESS RAM? I mean 512 is just go flippin’ much. I want virus scan to run randomly too - like i need it. OOH, can you have outlook devour all the free ram too? And then…then when i receive all my billion emails each morning, have my laptop GRIND TO A HALT BECAUSE OUTLOOK MAX’S THE CPU.

Here’s a tip, if you plan on getting a laptop for the sole purpose of using it as a really large folder for your papers, then get a low-end business laptop - if you plan on doing ANYTHING TECHNICAL - get a desktop replacement laptop…

…stupidity strikes again

Guess What’s Back…Back Again…

Last night I revived the tradition of everynight in late 2004/early 2005: I played WoW for about 4.5hrs last night. It was very good to play it. I’ve been gaming on and off for much of the fall. I’ve tried various games but I had been left disappointed. It wasn’t the game, necessarily, it was the fact that I ultimately wanted to WoW. So my account is apparently active and I patched the game and played.

Am I too old for this? Probably not…maybe not…I hope not…

Over There…

Well I planned on blogging more often but…I haven’t.

My best friend whom I’ve known for over 20 years - shared many a drunken night with, has been deployed to the place where the people hate them and that is not settling well with me.

I remember how often he tried to get into the army/marines/anything because that is what he wanted to do. He finally got the green light from Uncle Sam in March of 2004 and off he went to Fort Sill, OK. At that point I was sad and happy all at once. I knew he’d eventually head to the big show in the Middle East but I didn’t want it to happen. I held out hope that all the shit over there would be cleaned up and they wouldn’t need anyone…

…When I told people of his joining, they replied with a psuedo-disgust. Why did he join? He certainly wasn’t forced, but it was something he knew he wanted to do. And because I know he loves this country - like everyone else over there. I can say I would not fight for this country because I don’t think what we are doing is necessary - but that is the beauty of it all - I can say these things and (save for a few comments) receive no penalty for expressing my opinion. I’ll shuddup now…
