The Big 2-7…

So I have edge another year towards 30.  I’m 27 today (cue standing ovation).  Yea, I typically don’t find myself celebrating my birthday too often - typically because I’m so burnt out from Christmas that I just want to open a few more gifts, relax, and call it a day.

I had an interesting thought though.  A “birthday” is infact when you celebrate when you were “birthed”.  But does anyone really celebrate the whole birthing part?  It’d be interesting to know what other cultures do to celebrate the day you were brought into the world.

Ah, so the “gift” I was talking about earlier in some posts - well, I went over to blurb.com and put together a photo book with a selection of photos I snapped during 2006 - the first year with my handy-dandy Canon Rebel XT :).

Must run now - random acts of shopping then over to Cold Stone Creamery to snag an ice cream cake :D

Gettin Ready…

Yes I missed another post yesterday. I was too busy watching the clock :). Now that my vacation has officially started I’m gearing up for a wonderful Christmas with family, friends, loved ones…and presents :D. I’m actually just happy I’m off for a week - that alone is a wonderful gift.

So we are currently gearing up for a holiday overload - hosting a brunch tomorrow morning, Christmas Eve with C’s family and Christmas Day with mine. Then a day off, then my birthday. Typically by the 28th of December I’m pretty much spent :). There is also talk of going to NYC for a day or so - but we are not sure if that will pan out due to my aunt’s 60th birthday on the 30th - it doesn’t stop :).

So I will most likely be too busy to post tomorrow and possibly Christmas Day. I wanted to again wish you all a wonderful holiday season filled with cheer and all that other happy stuff :). And to a wonderful New Year - may 2007 bring you much prosperity and may it allow me to give the “365 - Photo a Day” project a go :).

Merry Christmas!

4 Days

So, tomorrow is the last day before vacation.  The theme of the week has really been all about me getting closer to vacation.  Thing is, I’m not even doing anything productive - just disconnecting.  I need it.

I’ve also thought participating in a “Photo a Day” type thing - taking one picture a day for 365 days.  It is very intimidating, but I’m sure it would broaden my photographic horizons.  I also think that after the holidays I’ll take any money I get and put it towards a new lens - an ultra-wide angle lens.  I’ve been intrigued by them for some time.

I’ll make sure to do a better job w/the whole “holidailies” thing next year if i participate.  I guess I wasn’t sure what to expect and it was tough to post everyday.

Ah well, you live and learn :).

4 Days! (almost 3!)

5 Days

Not terribly motivated to do the “Photography Basics” posts - sorry gang.  Theres much more useful information than I could provide elsewhere in the net, trust me.  I’d probably end up just copy/pasting a quote again anyway :).

Really all I want is for my vacation to start and I’m getting giddy just thinking about it.

My cousin informed me of her purchase of a new Rebel XT (they’re so cheap now!) - very excited for her as she’ll be able to really explore photography more :).

Well, the countdown continues (boring posts, I know).

Happy Holidaze!

Before I forget, I wanted to wish you all a happy, safe, and above all, kick ass holiday. I plan on taking a week off and I have hopes that this time off will help me relax and disconnect from the daily grind - something I know is difficult for many.

Good chance I’m doing the “happy holidays” thing too soon, but I know myself - and there’s a pretty good chance I’ll forget to do so the later in the week we get :).

This year I’m more anxious to see the reaction of the gifts I give rather than the gifts I receive. Last year was the same thing. I surprised my dad with a gift he never expected and it was really great to see his reaction :).

3.5 days until vacation..not that I’m counting or anything ;)
