I’m Her Future Husband
She called me after class as she normally does and we talked about how her class went, her test, etc. I knew she didn’t suspect anything. She pulled up, parked her car and I greeted her at the doorway - still unsuspecting. Walking into the living room she noticed the rose petals only after I turned the lights on and asked her…
Hours before, I had gone to get a dozen red roses and a bag of rose petals. I arrived home and put the roses in a vase and headed to her folks house where I asked them for permission to marry their daughter. It was a bit surreal as I asked and got their response.
After chatting with her parents for a bit, I quickly drove home and finished setting up: Roses on the coffee table with small tea lights arranged in a heart shape. I put rose petals on the table, and rose petals on out bed, in a heart shape. Finally, I put down rose petals from the door too the table…and she walked in the door
…She didn’t know I was asking her (not yet anyway). She slowly walked to the coffee table, replying with an excited “you got me flowers…” when she saw the vase full of red roses. I replied to her comment with “I got you something else too…” and produced the small black velvet box she’d been waiting for.
Seeing her face, I got choked up a bit - but I was ecstatic at the same time. I told her I loved her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry me (and to be redundant, I asked her also to be my wife). She responded with “…Yes, of course!”
And there you have it - we’re engaged as of July 30th, 2007.
I love you sweetheart :-*
