Really Japan

Yesterday I came across a pretty sweet photoblog that has some fantastic pictures of my one of my favorite places: Japan. Really Japan doesn’t just give you the standard, run of the mill images of Japan. Ruben gives reader/visitor a unique look at the country with some really excellent images.

For me, seeing his photos brought me back to last November, when C and I headed out to Japan for two incredible weeks. Hard to say the trip changed my life, but it definitely made a significant impact on me and gave me a new perspective. It is definitely among the places I’ve visited and miss.

A Good Weekend

The weekend was good and it started early. I took Friday off as it was C’s birthday. We had 1hr massages scheduled and we ended up shopping for bikes as she wanted a new bike. I’m an advocate for getting one from a bike shop so we headed out and she tried a Specialized Crossroads and we went back yesterday and bought it. The massages were great and we finished up the day at 2Vine for dinner.

Saturday was spent running errands for the wedding, getting groceries, etc and cleaning our place as people were coming over to celebrate C’s birthday. Unfortunately by the time people were to arrive, I found myself very tired/out of it so I wasn’t in much of a party/social mood until later in the evening.

Sunday included being lazy, bike buying and taking a very nice 10mi ride with C and her brother J. I over did it a bit, thinking I was actually in decent shape..which I’m not. Tempted to go for a ride tonight (another 10mi or so) as I have this craving to ride constantly (like right now). I may try to enter a race or two. I also plan on riding my bike to work (11mi from our current place), at the very least as part of Bike to Work Week.

Not sure what it is, but some dormant cycling addict has awoken somehow…not that I’m complaining, it’s about time I get passionate about form of exercise.

Ear Candy IV

Thanks to a co-worker, I came across a couple songs (one of which is a cover). And here they are…

DJ Tiesto - Everything

Andain - Here is The House
(Cover of Depeche Mode Tune with same name)

365 Progress

Though this is technically Project 366, I’ll keep the title as 365. Anyway, the project goes well. Better now that Winter has gone away. The short days mixed with cold temps kept me inside more often than I would have liked and capturing an image everyday during that time wasn’t easy.

With the arrival of Spring, I feel things are improving, but at the same time, I’m cautiously optimistic. I mean, I still have to take a photo every single day. Still isn’t easy, but easier.

The biggest concern day I’m concerned with is our wedding day as the day will be very busy. Taking pictures and twittering during our wedding day will be near impossible, which is cool with me. I mean, it’d be neat to keep people abreast on the happenings of our reception, but I doubt I’ll have time and I’d look like a goof. Not that I have a problem with looking like a goof - if it were a profession, I’d be a CEO.

Inspiration Has Returned (I think)

It seems my enjoyment/fondness of photography has returned - and just in time for spring. I’m not much of an outdoors person during the winter time (don’t ski, don’t ice skate, retired from sledding nearly 15yrs ago..not sure why).

With the return of Spring, comes more outdoors time. I am going to make an effort to bring at least one camera with me wherever I go. As I say that, I of course forget my camera everyday when I leave the house for work…woops O_o.
