Pre-Coffee Reading…

Shiite Anger

I looked at this over at msnbc.com this morning before any cafeine had flooded my brain.  At first I didn’t see the extra ‘i’ or the ‘e’ - which caused me to wonder why there would be such a huge protest over ‘Shit Anger’.

That is all.  Happy Monday.

There’s 300 Million of us…Ugh

So, this morning the “census counter” clicked over to 300,000,000.  And as it did, I continued to not care.  I am really not sure why we are now in some “different era”.  I mean, the world doesn’t change because one baby is born and it clicks over to 300,000,000 on some crappy looking counter.  Can you imagine the pressure on that little baby if we truly were in some new “era” because he/she was born.  Fairly certain I’d be scrambling for the womb if that were the case - “Oh hell no, let me back in there!”

Also in the news, Kim Jong Il isn’t too happy with the U.N. sanctions agreed upon over the weekend.  Well ya know what Mr. Il?  I’m not a fan of the shop goggles you wear everyday.  You look ridiculous and I have nominated you to appear on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” - we’re all pulling for you.

The blog’s been about camera stuff a lot lately.  I’ll admit, I’m obsesed with camera gear right now - it’s pretty bad.  I’ve counted a couple “camera gear” dreams this week.  Yea, I’m hardcore like that.

Holographic Data Storage

This article is pretty cool. Apparently, Maxell’s said to produce their first ‘holographic’ data storage disks sometime in Sept. 06.

Not that we need a THIRD high-definition DVD storage option, but Maxell’s disk totally blows away Blu-Ray (Sony) and HDdvd (Toshiba+NEC).

Should be interesting -). With HDTV making its way into the homes of more and more TV watchers, the need for one format will be more apparent as both Hollywood and the Consumer itself will not want to potentially buy two of everything -). One problem I see is that Microsoft is backing HDDVD while Sony is backing its Blu-Ray. Since the two aren’t the best of friends on the console gaming market, you can bet that neither will cave and support the other format for the sake of the consumer -).
